Measuring data and making it easy to share & understand.
When I attended the Nonprofit Technology Conference in San Francisco, I learned lots of great information and met some great people.
I attended a session lead by Beth Kanter, the nonprofit genius behind Beth's Blog and co-author of the Networked Nonprofit, on data visualization. I was impressed with Beth and her co-presenters. My fingers were kept busy tweeting out all the goodness. I then took some of my tweets and those of others who attended and used Storify to capture the highlights of the sessions including links to the many great resources shared.
The summary hadn't been widely read and so I've tweeted it out a few times over the past week. Holly Ross, Executive Director of NTEN, resent it to her followers sparking interest.
And today, Beth Kanter saw it and said "Wow!" She thanked me for capturing the knowledge of the session and added it to her wiki with all the links that people interested in the topic might want to follow.
I'm thrilled that Beth likes how I was able to share her knowledge with readers of my blog. So I wanted to make sure that social profits in Waterloo Region knew about this great resource that I've been able to put together thanks to Beth Kanter: http://communicateandhowe.com/2012/05/15/how-nonprofits-can-visualize-data/#comment-832
By the way if you haven't read her book the Networked Nonprofit, I highly recommend it. Another about measuring the networked nonprofit is expected this fall.
