The Civics Research Cooperative reported last week that a vision is emerging for a Centre for Community Innovation and Design (CCID) here in Waterloo Region. They've been studying the feasibility of a multi-sector centre for small, socially or environmentally-oriented businesses, organizations, entrepreneurs, artists and community groups for close to a year. What's emerged isn't an idea for one centre, as is the case with Toronto's Centre for Social Innovation (CSI), but several. All networked and integrated but reflecting the needs and interests of the communities in which they're located. Civics plans to hold a community forum this November. If you want to learn more about the CCID concept before then, you can read their recent update. And if you want to see what CSI is all about, check out the Thank God It's Monday video.
